Optus offers Starlink satellite service to business customers
Optus has announced that it is now offering Starlink’s low-orbit satellite broadband connectivity to its enterprise and SMB customers as an authorised reseller.
To be known as Satellite Internet for Business, the service – which boasts “fast, uncapped and higher throughput internet” – will be available to any business in Australia as long as they have a Starlink business kit and “a clear view of the sky”. However, this will exclude the Australian Radio Quiet Zone in Western Australia where no service is permitted to be provided.
The second-largest telco provider added the service will also come with full support for installation, billing, troubleshooting, and help desk services, including “prioritised” support from Starlink’s help desk.
“We know that small and medium sized businesses are the backbone of the Australian economy and at Optus we are committed to ensuring they are supported in our digital world,” Optus Vice President Enterprise and Mid-Market Ben Vella said.
Customers will also have access to prioritised data with priority fixed in the event of extreme weather or when they’re on the move in metro or regional parts of the country with priority mobility offerings.
“Our customers depend on Optus to adapt at the speed of technology to meet their evolving needs and this is a great example of how Optus is pushing boundaries by empowering Australia’s positive connections while putting customers at the heart of what we do,” said Vella.
Optus Satellite Internet for Business is available now. The offering follows in the footsteps of Telstra, which began offering Starlink to its enterprise customers earlier this year.
However, this is Optus’ second deal with the Elon Musk-owned company, having inked a deal in July 2023 to boost mobile connectivity for regional Australia, starting with SMS in late 2024, followed by voice and data from late 2025.
