Spinnaker Support appoints global CTO to unify technical teams

Spinnaker Support has promoted chief technology officer (CTO) Mark Fetches to global CTO, bringing its regional CTOs, solution consultants and technical account managers into a single organisation.

Spinnaker Support provides third-party support for enterprise software, including products from Oracle, SAP and VMware, as well as PostgreSQL.

As part of the promotion, Fetches will now report to chief revenue officer Pete Castello and join the company’s go-to-market leadership team.

Unifying technical leadership

Meanwhile, Iain Saunderson, CTO for the Americas, will report to Fetches, alongside Phil Wilkins, technical account manager and enterprise technical architect, and Sree Sakamuri, director of solution consulting.

Fetches was previously Spinnaker’s CTO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He has more than 30 years of technology consulting and leadership experience, including roles at Accenture, Deloitte and PwC, where he led customer-facing technical teams and advised executives on digital, cloud, AI and enterprise transformation.

“Customers choose Spinnaker for the expertise of our people,” Spinnaker Support CEO Matt Stava said.

“Mark showed in EMEA how much customers value close technical engagement from the start. With him leading these teams globally, we can bring that same level of guidance to every region, helping customers solve immediate challenges and plan for what comes next.”

According to the company, the restructure is intended to connect technical advice provided during the sales process with the support and guidance customers receive after signing up.

The strategic value of modernization

“The best time to talk about modernisation is before an upgrade or renewal forces the issue,” Fetches said.

“That’s when customers have the greatest freedom to evaluate their options and move forward on their own terms. By bringing together our regional CTOs, solution consultants and technical account managers, we give customers access to the right expertise from the first conversation through execution.”

The appointment follows a series of leadership changes at Spinnaker Support last year, including Rex Young’s appointment as chief information officer in August and Vivek Pruthi’s appointment as managing director for Asia-Pacific.

The company also promoted Martin Biggs to vice president and general manager of its PostgreSQL practice in September, alongside the launch of new offerings aimed at helping enterprises reduce their reliance on Oracle databases.

Spinnaker said the appointment comes as the company records double-digit growth, with more enterprises turning to independent software support providers.
