Nvidia has announced new partnerships with the South Korean government, Samsung Electronics, SK Group and Hyundai Electronics to expand the country’s AI infrastructure, promising 260,000 Nvidia GPUs for physical and agentic AI use. The impact will be felt across all major industries, including automotive, manufacturing and telecommunications.
“Korea’s leadership in technology and manufacturing positions it at the heart of the AI industrial revolution – where accelerated computing infrastructure becomes as vital as power grids and broadband,” Nvidia Founder and CEO Jensen Huang said.
“Just as Korea’s physical factories have inspired the world with sophisticated ships, cars, chips and electronics, the nation can now produce intelligence as a new export that will drive global transformation.”
Working with Korea’s Minister of Science and ICT, Nvidia will deploy up to 50,000 of its latest GPUs across the National AI Computing Center – and IT providers such as NHN Cloud, Kakao Corp and NAVER Cloud – over the next several years.
According to Nvidia, this will give research institutes, startups and AI companies access to sovereign AI infrastructure to build models and applications.
“Expanding our national AI infrastructure and developing technologies with Nvidia is an investment that will further reinforce South Korea’s strengths, including its manufacturing capabilities,” said Korea Deputy Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon. “This will support South Korea’s prosperity as it strives to become one of the top three global AI powerhouses.”
Additionally, Nvidia announced Samsung Electronics, SK Group and Hyundai Motor Group are each building AI factories powered by more than 50,000 Nvidia GPUs.
Through its new AI factory, Samsung will build digital twins to improve semiconductor manufacturing processes, using Nvidia Cuda-X, Nvidia cuLitho library and Nvidia Omniverse. Samsung will also use Nvidia Cosmos, Nvidia Isaac Sim, and Nvidia Isaac Lab to advance its home robot development portfolio.
Meanwhile, SK Group plans to advance its semiconductor research, development and production, as well as cloud infrastructure to support digital twin and AI agent development. The first phase of its AI facility is slated for completion by late 2027, and will be structured to serve SK subsidiaries – including SK hynix and SK Telecom – as well as external organisations through a GPU-as-a-service model.
Notably, SK Group’s facility will include Asia’s first industrial AI cloud, featuring Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs for physical AI and robotics workloads.
Hyundai’s collaboration with Nvidia and the Korean government will focus on helping establish the country’s physical AI industry, including the establishment of an AI Application Centre and AI Technology Center.
Nvidia added that Hyundai is building an Nvidia AI supercomputer to accelerate model training, validation and deployment for in-vehicle AI, autonomous driving, smart factories and robotics. The car manufacturing giant is also exploring using the Nvidia Omniverse and Cosmos platforms on Nvidia RTX Pro servers to develop car factory digital twins and robots.
