Merging two multibillion organisations is never easy, especially when they were competitors for years. But here we are, five months after HPE finally closed its acquisition of Juniper Networks, and customers of both companies can already benefit from the same advanced AIOps features.
It’s arguably the strongest sign yet that HPE’s claims that no customer would be left behind are true. Certainly this is a consistent theme of HPE Discover Barcelona 2025, which kicked off today.
Rami Rahim, now President & GM of the recently formed HPE Networking division, is arguably the poster child of this partnership. “Our goal is to unify the experience of these two platforms [Aruba Central & Mist] by leveraging the microservices architecture, both in cross pollinating capabilities from one onto another,” he said in a briefing to journalists shortly before HPE Discover Barcelona.
“And I’m really happy to say that after only a few short months since the close of this acquisition, we have made some amazing progress… Nobody gets left behind. Everybody gets to participate in the rapid pace of innovation that we will achieve through this ‘build once and deploy twice model’.โ
So let’s dig into those new AIOPs capabilities.
The first big news is that that Juniper’s Mist Large Experience Model will now be available in HPE Aruba Networking Central. That’s a big move, bringing one of Juniper’s most coveted features to existing HPE customers.
We covered Juniper’s new MIst AI agents in a previous article, but in short they bring agentic AI to your network. They will spot problems and solve them, or at least offer admins an easy way to implement their suggested fixes.
And the giving goes both ways. HPE Aruba Networking’s Agentic Mesh technology will now be available for Mist, “enhancing anomaly detection and root-cause analysis with advanced reasoning and autonomous or assistive actions” to quote HPE’s press release.
HPE is also attempting to unify the two platforms’ look and feel, with Mist adopting the same “organisational insight and global NOC views” found on HPE Aruba Networking Central.
“Dual platform design lets our customers choose their preferred control point, whether it’s Mist or Aruba Central, and switch seamlessly between the two platforms as their needs evolve, with no new hardware involved in that decision,” said Rahim. “It gives customers ultimate peace of mind with the investment protection that this provides them.”
New HPE products for faster AI inferencing at the edge
In addition to its AIOPs news, HPE announced new Wi-Fi 7 access points that will work across both HPE Aruba Networking Central and HPE Juniper Networking Mist.
It is also strengthening its edge portfolio of products designed for AI inferencing, with the HPE Juniper Networking QFX5250 switch and HPE Juniper Networking MX301 multiservice edge router.
“This is the world’s highest performance, 100% liquid-cooled Ultra Ethernet transport ready switch, built on the Broadcom Tomahawk 6 processor with 1.6-terabit Ethernet interfaces [and] over 100 terabits of total bandwidth,” said Rahim of the QFX5250.
The 1U MX301 router, which like the switch is designed for AI inferencing at the edge, delivers 1.6Tbps performance and “400G connectivity across inference, multiservice, metro, mobile backhaul, and enterprise routing environments”.
Rahim added: “It packs all of the performance, 1.6 terabits per second, and all of the flexibility that our customers have come to love about the MX [series], in a small 1U rack unit, power-optimised package, that makes it absolutely ideal as an on-ramp for the distributed inference cluster opportunity.”
