Amazon has added AI data analysis to its business intelligence suite QuickSight. This follows AWS giving its contact centre suite a generative AI makeover last December.
The big news is that Amazon has added scenarios to QuickSight’s GenAI assistant, Q. Users can now ask natural language questions about their enterprise data to “uncover hidden trends, make recommendations for their organization, and identify new business opportunities”, according to AWS.
Q in QuickSight customers can also use scenarios to help with business decisions.
Once users have a problem or question they need help with, they can enter a natural language prompt. They can query the data already in QuickSight (or use Q to find information stored in their dashboards that could help), or upload additional files.
Q in QuickSight will be able to use both structured and unstructured data for scenarios questions, including the likes of messages, documents and webpages. QuickSight will then prep the data for analysis, and Q will provide natural language answers to the problem the user has described. Or it might suggest prompts that could help with further analysis.
Employees can use scenarios to examine past trends in their business, such as identifying why revenue from a particular customer segment has increased or decreased.
Or they might run ‘what-if?’ scenarios – querying how adjusting a special offer would impact bottom line, for example. Q in QuickSight can also make suggestions on business decisions based on the scenarios.
Plus, users can revisit previous scenarios, to modify queries as needed.
Amazon reckons using Q in QuickSight for these kinds of analyses is around ten times quicker with Q than spreadsheets.
Amazon has also been eating its own dog food: its Devices product marketing team have been using scenarios to delve into information held in its support tickets to generate customer insights. It also used the business intelligence tool in scenarios functionality to “find new ways to reach developers creating Amazon Appstore applications”, AWS said.
Scenarios is now available for Amazon Q in QuickSight Pro users in the US East, US West, Europe (Frankfurt) and Europe (Ireland) AWS regions.
According to AWS, QuickSight now has over 100,000 users, including BMW and the National Football League.
