Amazon Bedrock teams with WPS AI for office software productivity

Amazon Web Services has announced that its are teaming up with one of the world’s biggest names in office software and services, WPS, to bring generative AI capabilities to its users. Amazon Bedrock, a provider of services for building, scaling and deploying generative software, will power the WPS AI portion of the WPS Office platform.

Generative AI features of WPS Office

WPS Office is a global provider of office software and services, with customers spanning 220 regions around the world. The company hopes to expand its reach – and offerings – by offering a generative AI solution to its already robust platform.

As the demand for AI features continues to grow, more companies are adapting their software to offer more “smart” features. In WPS Office’s case, those features powered by Amazon Bedrock include:

  • Spell check: Spell checking, grammar correction, punctuation fixes and document polishing courtesy of WPS AI and Amazon Bedrock to produce more professional, and accurate, content.
  • Content rewriting: Using artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, WPS AI can help rewrite content for conciseness and better readability. It can also help modify tone and adjust content length.
  • Parallel translation: With the “Sync Translation” feature, WPS Office users can translate and view content side by side, eliminating language barriers and granting users access to content not written in their native tongue.
  • One-click slide generation: Also powered by Amazon Bedrock, the slide generation feature can summarize content (from one sentence to an entire document) and create a slide template that matches with the contents theme.

Xiang He, General Manager of WPS International hinted at more to come: “In the future, we look forward to continuing to explore the intelligent applications of generative AI technology in the office field with AWS, empowering more WPS AI office scenarios to bring innovative digital office experience of efficient collaboration for global users.”

Greg Pearson, Vice President of AWS Global Sales, was equally positive. “Using Amazon Bedrock in its core AI application is allowing WPS to develop and introduce intelligent features like automated slide generation in half the time,” he claimed.

“With AWS, WPS can innovate faster and automate tedious and repetitive tasks that give employees more time to work on meaningful and customer-facing tasks.”

AI safety and security

WPS says that it created WPS AI using Amazon Bedrock’s selection of foundation models to reduce launch time and costs. Here, it allowed the project to launch in only two months and 35% under budget.

Amazon Bedrock also offers safeguards designed to prevent loss and ensure data integrity. One particularly important safeguard is the protection of the large language models WPS AI is built upon. Amazon Bedrock helps ensure the data those models are built upon can’t be trained or leave the secured AWS environment.
