Westbank First Nation selects Unit4 ERPx to modernise its operations

Westbank First Nation (WFN), a self-governing Indigenous community in British Columbia’s Okanagan region, has selected Unit4 ERPx as its enterprise resource planning platform, marking Unit4’s first ERPx deployment with a First Nation.

WFN operates under its own constitution, governing roughly 900 members through departments spanning health, education, taxation, and economic development. That governance complexity, blending elements of municipal, regional, and federal administration, made finding the right ERP a significant challenge. The organisation launched a competitive procurement process in March 2025, explicitly seeking a system that could unify fragmented tools and deliver a single, reliable source of data across the organisation.

Unit4 ERPx won the contract in June 2026. The cloud-native platform will consolidate WFN’s finance, procurement, project management, and FP&A operations into one integrated environment, replacing legacy systems that had created silos between departments. WFN is also adopting Unit4 Success4U, the vendor’s structured implementation and change management programme designed to reduce deployment risk and accelerate time-to-value.

A strategic milestone for Unit4

The deal is strategically notable for Unit4. 

The company hit its 100th ERPx customer go-live in late 2025, and its pipeline now stands at 350+ organisations. Winning a First Nation customer signals the platform’s readiness for the uniquely layered governance structures that many public sector and community organisations face globally.

“This is more than a technology project — it’s the start of a long-term partnership built on trust, collaboration, and a shared vision for modern, efficient governance,” said Greg Beaumont, Managing Director Canada Public Sector at Unit4.

For WFN, the move aligns digital infrastructure with its broader modernisation ambitions, improving data visibility, reducing manual processes, and freeing staff to focus on delivering services to the community it governs.

Unit4 serves more than 4,700 customers globally, including Metro Vancouver, Southampton City Council, and Oxfam America.
