Sage expands Intacct with AI-powered finance controls

Sage has announced that it has expanded its Intacct financial management platform with new AI-powered controls, connected reporting and industry-specific capabilities to help finance teams identify potential issues earlier and reduce manual work.

“AI should do more than automate routine tasks,” said Jon Fasoli, SVP of Sage Intacct at Sage.

“It should help finance leaders catch problems earlier and make decisions with more confidence. That’s what this release is about: putting AI, automation and connected data to work in the tools finance teams already use every day.”

The August 2026 update has seen the vendor introduce Anomaly Detection for AP Automation, which uses AI to flag potentially suspicious invoice activity earlier in the payment process. The capability can identify invoices received from unrecognised vendor email addresses, allowing administrators to review and block suspicious senders before payment.

The release also includes Smart Reporting for Excel, which enables finance teams to work with Sage Intacct reporting structures directly within Excel without recreating reports or relying on manual data exports.

Other additions include enhanced billing groups in Order Entry for on-demand invoice generation, expanded billing workflows and draft invoice reviews.

Sage has also introduced a Customer Payments Portal, which provides a self-service payment experience including scheduled payments, saved payment details and payment links. Sage noted that the portal can support “multiple” payment providers and methods, but doesn’t specify which ones.

Sage Intacct boost for construction, lending and hospitality

Alongside these new features, Sage has expanded Intacct’s capabilities for the construction, lending and hospitality sectors.

For construction businesses, new billing and retainage functionality is designed to automate retainage calculations and simplify complex project billing.

Sage Intacct Lending Management has also been introduced to support the full loan lifecycle within the platform. The capability automates processes including interest calculations and borrower statements, allowing lending organisations to manage loan operations without relying on separate financial systems.

For the hospitality sector, Sage Intacct has added an integration with Craftable that automatically synchronises purchasing, sales and inventory data.

The availability of the new features varies by market. Anomaly Detection for AP Automation and enhanced billing groups are generally available globally, while Smart Reporting for Excel and the Customer Payments Portal are being rolled out through Early Adopter program. The new billing construction functionality is available across selected markets, including Australia, through an Early Adopter program, while Sage Intacct Lending Management and the Craftable integration are currently available in the US.
