HPE doubles down on Nvidia-powered ProLiant Compute servers with 2U and 4U form factors

If your enterprise intends to run AI agents or services in-house, then HPE clearly wants your business. Not content with launching ten HPE ProLiant Gen12 servers in February, it has announced that two of its HPE Compute servers will pack Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell GPUs.

It also announced that HPE Private Cloud AI, its “turnkey” AI factory solution for the enterprise that it co-developed with Nvidia, will support the latest agentic AI models from Nvidia, plus a vision language model for robotics.

“Our collaboration with Nvidia continues to push the boundaries of innovation, delivering solutions that unlock the value of generative, agentic and physical AI while addressing the unique demands of enterprise workloads,” said Cheri Williams, Senior Vice President and General Manager for private cloud and flex solutions at HPE.

“With the combination of HPE ProLiant servers and expanded capabilities in HPE Private Cloud AI, we’re enabling organizations to embrace the future of AI with confidence and agility.”

Two updated HPE Compute servers

The first server is the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11. This supports up to two Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs in a new 2U form factor. It’s air-cooled rather than liquid cooled, and HPE believes it is “well-suited for datacenters tasked with meeting the growing AI demands of the enterprise”.

“Enterprises need flexible, efficient infrastructure to keep pace with the demands of modern AI,” said Justin Boitano, VP of Enterprise AI at Nvidia. “With Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell GPUs in HPE’s 2U ProLiant servers, enterprises can accelerate virtually every workload on a single, unified, enterprise-ready platform.”

HPE also announced that its HPE ProLiant Compute DL380a Gen12 server, already announced in February, will pack up to 8 Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 GPUs into its 4U chassis.

Both servers can be ordered today and will ship worldwide from 2 September.

HPE Private Cloud AI adds new Nvidia reasoning models

Two months ago, HPE announced it that its Private Cloud AI solution would be given a boost by “its Nvidia AI Computing by HPE portfolio of AI factory solutions with Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, including new composable solutions optimized for service providers, model builders and sovereign entities”.

This latest announcement adds supports for the latest Nvidia models, including the Nvidia Nemotron models for agentic AI.

If your data includes video assets, take note of its support for the latest version of Nvidia Blueprint for Video Search and Summarization (VSS 2.4). This uses AI agents to extract insights from “massive columns of video data”, the press release said.

Finally, there’s Cosmos Reason. This is a vision language model (VLM) for physical AI and robotics.
