Dell gives AI Factory with Nvidia a feature makeover 

Dell has used its annual supercomputing shindig to unveil a raft of new features for its AI offering with Nvidia.  

At its SC25 event, Dell announced a series of upgrades to Dell AI Factory with Nvidia, its team up between Dell’s infrastructure products and Nvidia’s artificial intelligence products. 

As part of the refresh, ObjectScale and PowerScale, the storage engines behind Dell AI Data Platform, will now integrate with Nvidia’s low latency communication NIXL library, and part of Dynamo, Nvidia’s interference software used to support AI factories’ reasoning models.

The time to first token – a measure of how quickly an AI factory can create the unit of data to produce outputs – for a 131k token context window will be one second, Dell said. According to the company, the integration will mean cheaper infrastructure costs and fewer GPU memory capacity bottlenecks. 

Dell has also expanded the range of hardware options for AI Factory, bringing compatibility with its PowerEdge XE7740/XE7745 servers, which run on Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell and Hopper GPUs. 

AI crucial to Dell’s success

According to Dell’s most recent set of financial results, the company is seeing a quarter-on-quarter increase in buyers for its AI servers, particularly in verticals including financial services, healthcare and manufacturing.

It notched up $17.7 billion in AI orders over the first half of the 2026 financial year, the six months ending 1 August. It expects to ship over $20 billion’s worth of AI servers over the course of the full financial year.  

Dell has also added more hardware choices for its Red Hat Open Shift for Dell AI Factory with Nvidia, expanding the range of servers that work with the application platform by adding support for the Dell PowerEdge XE9680 system, which uses Nvidia’s H100 and H200 GPUs.  

Dell also brought Dell Automation Platform to its AI Factory, allowing enterprises to automate the deployment of full-stack AI workloads using the platform, including its Tabnine AI code assistant and agentic AI platform with Cohere North.  

Dell’s SmartFabric Manager, its network management tool for its SONiC networking OS, is now also able to integrate with Dell AI factory, providing enterprises with automated set-up blueprints.  

All of the updates to AI Factory are now globally available, Dell said.
