Over the next week, you’re going to be bombarded with Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. And we’re hesitant to add to the noise, especially as we fundamentally believe that you should buy technology wisely. In particular, we are all duty-bound not to add to the piles of e-waste – read Lee Grant’s recent interview with Kyle Wiens CEO of iFixit for more on this.
With all that said, there are times when it makes sense to buy new technology. Here, we’ve focused on deals in the UK and US that could help you work more efficiently.

Let’s kick off with a bunch of US exclusives…
Nothing says efficiency like having dual monitors, which helps save time and reduce errors as you no longer need to switch back and forth between browser tabs while working on projects. Samsung has a terrific Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal on its 32in Odyssey Neo G8 4K monitors to help you achieve such a setup. Normally retailing for $1299.99, this curved monitor with matte display and crystal clear picture is on sale for $739.99 – a cheeky $560 saving.
For demanding tech workers and business buyers who want lots of power for a great price, MSI’s Commercial 14″ Professional Enterprise Laptop looks tempting. It normally retails at $1149.99 but is on sale during Black Friday for $939.99. It comes with Windows 11 Pro, 32GB of DDR4 Ram and one of Intel’s fastest 13th generation Core i7 processors.
Productivity desktop PCs are also on sale, including the Pro DP180 Business Desktop. This normally retails for $1399.99, but can currently be purchased for $949.99. It features 16GB DDR4 RAM, an Intel Core i5 processor and a 2TB M.2 SSD drive.
Security is the gift that keeps on giving. Isn’t that the saying? Anyway, protecting customer data helps small business owners, IT pros and tech workers away from damaging headlines or career-breaking breaches. During Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Bitdefender, a leader in security software and malware protection, is offering 56% off each tier of its security offerings. Bitdefender Premium Security, its most popular choice, normally costs $159.99 per year, but can currently be nabbed at $69.99.
D-Link is a manufacturer of premium Wi-Fi routers, Ethernet switches, Wi-Fi cameras and more. This Black Friday, it’s slashing the price of numerous Wi-Fi and internet connectivity devices to help IT professionals stay connected.
If your team works in a large office or you are a tech professional that works remotely and needs to ensure you are always online, the D-Link AX3000 WiFi 6 Mesh Router is particularly tempting. It’s currently on sale for 33% off for $59.88.
To further extend the range of your Wi-Fi, you can add D-Link AX3000 Range Extenders, which are capable of covering up to 2,800 square feet ($69.99).
The Video Doorbell 2K is Arlo’s second generation wireless video camera. Featuring two-way audio, night vision, head-to-toe video and an integrated siren, this security camera is perfect for checking package deliveries, monitoring visitors to your office or just keeping an eye out for dubious sorts. We never trusted Santa.
With a list price of $129.99, the Arlo Video Doorbell 2K is on sale through Black Friday and Cyber Monday for $79.99. At 38% off, it’s a definite steal (pun intended).
Western Digital has a slate of hard drives and storage devices on sale, with deeper discounts expected during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Increase your personal or business storage with hard drives such as the WD_Black 3.5 inch gaming hard drive, which can boost storage by up to 10TB without compromising on loading speeds.
While it’s designed with gamers in mind, it is also perfect for business situations where data retrieval speed is vital. It starts at $46.99. Purchase a portable hard drive for off-site storage, such as the My Passport Ultra 6TB, and you can receive a stylish carrying case for free.
Enough treats for the Americans. Now we reveal the UK Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. Please note that all the prices include VAT.
This deal has been selling fast, so are now only two 13.5in Surface Laptop 5 available. The first is finished in stylish black, featuring a 12th generation Core i7, 32GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. That means the processor is two generations old, but this will still be a fast system for years to come – and the Surface Laptop makes a great impression too.

Note: There is a platinum version of the 15in Surface Laptop 5 on sale for £947.40, but with 8GB of RAM we don’t think it’s got the legs to be a long-term investment.
Acer has partnered with Ben Fogle to promote its new Aspire Vero range of laptops. Buy one before 31 January and you can claim an accessories pack – mouse, mouse mat and sleeve – that has a £79.95 retail price. It also promises that it will clear up to 80kg of plastic waste from the environment for every Aspire Vero sold in the UK.
In particular, Acer is selling an Acer Aspire Vero AV14-52P bundle from Amazon for £589.99, down from £829.99. We haven’t tested this particular model, which has a Core i7-1355U processor, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, but know from previous tests that the Vero range is easy to upgrade and solidly built.

Lenovo loves to provide a special “web price” on its UK website, and it reckons it has nine worthy of the title “MEGADEAL”. These range from ThinkPads to gaming laptops (its Legion Pro series) to monitors to mini PCs.
We’ve called out the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 because we’ve tested it ourselves and know what an excellent piece of machinery it is. You don’t get one of the very latest Intel Core Ultra processors, instead last year’s i7-1355U chip, but it’s still a nippy device and its build quality is outstanding. You’re also buying a top-notch 14in touchscreen.

Sticking with laptops, but this time a 2-in-1 convertible design, HP is offering a mighty tempting Black Friday deal (on sale at Amazon until 3 December) for the Envy x360. This is a great quality little laptop, with a 14in screen and a powerful AMD Ryzen 8640HS processor inside. Look after this machine and it will keep providing excellent service for years.

Here’s another deal that ends on 3 December, this time exclusive to Argos. We haven’t tested this 27in Full HD monitor (1,920 x 1,080 resolution), but its specs suggest it will offer good colour coverage – just note that it only includes VGA and HDMI inputs, not DisplayPort or USB-C. Still, it’s hard to argue at this price.
