India’s social gaming and interactive entertainment platform WinZO has joined forces with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to scale its global centre of excellence (GCoE) and accelerate the country’s interactive entertainment industry use of AI.
WinZO launched the GCoE in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, in November 2024.
“At WinZO, we believe India is poised to lead the next wave of global gaming innovation by leveraging its true strengths – youth, creativity, and scale,” said WinZO Cofounder Paavan Nanda.
“Through our Global Centre of Excellence, and in collaboration with AWS, we’re building a platform that empowers developers to create immersive, safe, and inclusive gaming experiences using generative AI. This initiative is unlocking opportunities and showcasing the potential of India’s digital economy to the world.”
Under the initiative, WinZO will leverage AWS technologies including Amazon Bedrock, which enables developers to create and scale generation AI applications without managing infrastructure, and Amazon SageMaker, a managed service for building, training and deploying machine learning models.
Using Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker to enhance games
With Amazon Bedrock, WinZO’s GCoE cohorts can build an AI-powered customer support platform capable of translation in 12 languages, AWS said. The company added the GCoE will also help developers test their games using data analytics and statistical modelling, touting it will shorten content development cycles by up to 25% compared to traditional manual playtesting.
According to the cloud giant, Amazon SageMaker will be used to create personalised gaming experiences by recommending tailored content and modes based on player behaviour, such as new brain games for a casual player who enjoys puzzles or a face-paced multiplayer tournament for a competitive user.
“India’s gaming industry is thriving on the cloud, and WinZO is a trailblazer in harnessing generative AI to reimagine gaming experiences at a global scale,” AWS India and South Asia solution architecture director Satinder Pal Singh said.
“WinZO’s long-term collaboration with AWS to scale its Global Center of Excellence is not only accelerating innovation in entertainment and personalized gaming but also strengthening India’s position as a global talent and technology hub.”
According to AWS, India’s gaming industry is projected to expand from US$3.7 billion in 2024 to US$9.1 billion by 2029.
