Pure Storage rebrands to Everpure in signal shift to data management

Pure Storage has announced a rebrand and is now known as Everpure, marking what Chairman and CEO Charles Giancarlo has described as a better representation of the company’s strategic direction.

In a blog post announcing the change, Giancarlo said the new identity reflects the company’s “evolution from redefining storage to rethinking data management”.

According to Giancarlo, the rebrand underpins a strategy designed to help customers build their own enterprise data cloud and tackle two persistent enterprise issues.

“The first is that customers manage their datasets with people, not software,” he said.

“This makes dataset management inconsistent, labour-intensive, and subject to error. There is no automated data set lifecycle management.”

Giancarlo said the second challenge is that traditional enterprise storage architecture is designed for operational systems of record, but not suitable for AI and analytical workloads.

“Between the two lies a gulf of human labour, extract, transform, load (ETL) tooling, weeks of tweaking, and yet more storage and compute hardware and software.”

Giancarlo said the company’s enterprise data cloud strategy has been designed to close that divide.

“With Everpure fusion and our enterprise data cloud architecture, enterprises can apply policy-driven governance across workloads, moving beyond traditional storage to standardize, protect, and intelligently manage their data sets,” said Giancarlo.

“This represents a meaningful evolution from infrastructure management to comprehensive data governance and delivers uniquely differentiated capabilities for enterprise workload management.”

Acquisition of 1touch

Earlier this week, the company announced a definitive agreement to acquire 1touch, a move that Giancarlo said will extend the enterprise data cloud into advanced data management.

“With 1touch, customers will be able to unlock the strategic value of their data and make it AI-ready,” he said.

“1touch’s technology addresses enterprise-wide data challenges by enhancing cyber resiliency, strengthening data sovereignty and regulatory compliance, and enabling deeper data characterization and contextualization for AI readiness.

“These capabilities are foundational to preparing data for AI and represent a critical building block for a future in which AI is deployed enterprise-wide.”

Giancarlo assured that despite the name change, the company is still the same.

“Our name has changed to reflect the sophistication of our platform and the breadth of our innovation, but our values remain unchanged. Customer centricity, quality, innovation, and the high standards our customers rely on remain the foundation of this next chapter,” he said.

“We are not changing who we are.”
