Nvidia and Alphabet join forces on AI

Nvidia and Alphabet have announced a series of joint AI initiatives, further deepening their long-standing relationship.

According to the pair, Alphabet’s Google Cloud will among the first to adopt the Nvidia GB300 NVL72 rack-scale solution and Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPU to power its research and AI production efforts.

Meanwhile, Nvidia will be Alphabet’s first industry partner and external user to adopt SynthID, a Google DeepMind AI technology that embeds digital watermarks directly into AI-generated images, audio, text, or video, with the aim to “build trust in generative AI through content transparency”.

“Alphabet and Nvidia have a longstanding partnership that extends from building AI infrastructure and software to advancing the use of AI in the largest industries,” Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said.

 “It’s a great joy to see Google and Nvidia researchers and engineers collaborate to solve incredible challenges, from drug discovery to robotics.”

The partnership also includes the optimisation of Google’s open models, Gemma, to run on Nvidia GPUs, which will be powered by Nvidia’s AI platform.

Robotics, AI, Nvidia and Alphabet

In robotics, Intrinsic, an Alphabet company focused on adaptive AI, is working with Nvidia to develop intuitive developer workflows for a universal robot grasping capabilities, reducing application development complexities and improving flexibility.

Concurrently, Nvidia and Google DeepMind announced they are partnering with Disney Research to develop Newton, dubbed as “an open-source physics engine” that will feature the Nvidia Warp framework that is compatible with MuJoCo.

“Powered by Newton, MuJoCo will accelerate robotics machine learning workloads by more than 70x compared with MuJoCo’s existing GPU-accelerated simulator, MJX,” Nvidia said.

The companies touted they are also tackling “real-world challenges” through Isomorphic Labs and Tapestry, X’s moonshot for the electric grid. Using AI, Isomorphic Labs aims to continue drug discovery processes, while Tapestry exploring methods to increase the speed and accuracy of electric grid simulations.
