Did you have times when youโ€™re waiting for an email, just for Apple Mail to not work the way it should? It happens, since Apple Mail is not a perfect service. Maybe it quits all of a sudden, it doesnโ€™t open at all, or it crashes. That stuff isnโ€™t normal, but from time to time, it does appear, and you have to figure out ways to handle it. Hereโ€™s how you can solve some of these Apple Mail problems.

Restart your Mac or Apple Mail

Restarting the service or just doing a complete system restart might come in handy. Itโ€™s a good idea because it allows you to speed things up, and it can lead to a much better experience. The advantage here is that you can troubleshoot Apple Mail on Mac, see if itโ€™s a small problem or if this is a part of a more serious issue. Regardless, it helps to check it out, and the results can be much better than expected.

Rebuild your Mail

It could be an internal Apple Mail problem, and rebuilding the mailbox might be the solution here. Open the Mail app, choose the mailbox from the left sidebar and then you can press Mailbox/Rebuild. Now you wait and a lot of the time, the issues will be solved.

Reset the Apple Mail app

You can reset the app with a Mac cleanup tool. Sometimes, resetting the Apple Mail is going to solve the issues. Itโ€™s a nifty way to handle mail problems, and itโ€™s certainly one of those things that work extremely well. With that in mind, itโ€™s something you want to try, because it runs well and it can provide a much better result than expected.

Do a Mac OS update

These updates can help improve performance and can sometimes help solve any Apple Mail issues you encounter. Itโ€™s a great idea to do such an update, and it certainly increases your Macโ€™s performance and security. The fact that it could help with your Apple Mail problems is a great bonus, and totally worth considering.

Disable the email accounts

Enter the system settings and in there you want to select Internet Accounts. Here you want to select the mailboxes, turn the option off in the iCloud Mail. And now, you can reload Apple Mail to see if it all worked. After that, you just start turning each of the mail accounts on. It’s a nifty idea and the best part is that it will kickstart the process, making it much easier to manage. Deleting email accounts is not exactly recommended. Although you can try to do that and add them back. But disabling is usually the right way to go, because you still get to save time, access the features you want, and not worry about any downsides or issues that might arise.

Remove attachments that might be problematic

You can do that with a Mac cleanup tool. There are times when some of the attachments you receive have malware in them. And thatโ€™s an issue that you must deal with as much as possible. If you start removing attachments that are problematic, it might very well solve the Apple Mail issues. In the end, itโ€™s going to make the process easier and better, since you know thereโ€™s no malware or any other problematic thing that you need to deal with.

Test Apple Mail in safe mode

Safe mode is a good option to consider if you still have Apple Mail issues. That way, you can see if the issue comes with the basic Apple Mail version, if itโ€™s due to attachments or any other thing. Naturally, it might not be the ideal thing for most people, but going into safe mode will surely make stuff easier to handle, so thatโ€™s totally something to keep in mind.

If you want to enter safe mode, you shut down the Mac, wait for 10 seconds, turn the Mac back on and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Release the power button when the startup window appears, select the startup disk and press and hold Shift. Now you can continue in Safe Mode, as you release the Shift key.

Once you start using these Apple Mail tooltips, it will be easier to solve any of the problems that arise. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to identify and tackle all these Apple Mail issues adequately and without worries. Avoid any rush, and remember that any Apple Mail issues that arise are fixable. Whether you rebuild the index, restart the device or have to reinstall Apple Mail via safe mode, all of these are solutions that will help you tackle the problem. We encourage you to use them, and youโ€™ll have no problems using Apple Mail again in no time!
