Dell to establish Hybrid Cloud VDI Centre at Singapore’s Institute of Technology Education (ITE)

Dell Technologies and Singapore’s Institute of Technology Education (ITE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a Hybrid Cloud VDI Centre at ITE to help develop digital skills and accelerate AI adoption.

The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Centre, powered by Dell VxRail hyperconverged infrastructure, supports up to 80 virtual machines concurrently and is accessible using any web browser. Dell said it will allow students to learn remotely, without worrying about hardware specifications.

At the same time, students will gain access to AI tools like GenAI animation and 3D modelling for experimentation and prototyping.

“Accelerating AI adoption for all is a purpose Dell and Singapore’s National AI Strategy share,” said Andy Sim, Dell Technologies Singapore VP and Managing Director.

“Our collaboration with ITE aims to nurture AI-savvy talent and enhance tech curricula, supporting enterprises and communities in building an AI-ready workforce.”

Universal omniverse experience

As part of establishing the VDI Centre, Dell said ITE also aims to deliver what it’s calling a “universal omniverse experience”.

This will involve training, upskilling and certifying staff and students with skills in areas such as cloud computing, virtualisation and AI. ITE will host visitors at the VDI centre, offer support to SMEs incubating industry projects and conduct workshops designed to help enterprises adopt and implement VDI solutions.

Using the VDI Centre, Dell will also offer short courses to SMEs focused on gaining technical certification in areas such as AI and Data Centre virtualisation using the VDI Centre. Participants will receive a Certificate of Competency (CoC) from ITE upon completion of the course.

“By leveraging our partnership with Dell Technologies, we are not only enabling our learners to acquire new skills related to AI and virtualisation technologies but also preparing them for the future of work,” said ITE chief executive Low Khah Gek.

“The hybrid cloud VDI Centre empowers learners to access advanced tools and resources from anywhere, ensuring that our training remains flexible and impactful,” she added. “Together, we are shaping an AI-ready workforce that will drive innovation and digital transformation in Singapore.”
