Cisco and NTT Data have announced an expansion of their partnership aimed at delivering wireless networking connectivity solutions for enterprises globally.
As part of the partnership, the pair said they will deliver a unified solution that is touted as both flexible and cost-effective. This solution will leverage Cisco’s eSIM technology, embedded into its infrastructure, and connect it to NTT Data’s Transatel network.
According to Cisco, this will enable enterprises to activate, provision and configure Cisco solutions “out of the box”.
Cisco stated that the solution simplifies the setup process, allowing organisations to launch secure mobile branches on demand and scale connectivity according to their needs.
“With NTT DATA, we strongly believe we can enable a faster, simpler and more convenient way for enterprises to securely connect their organisations through an enhanced setup and provisioning process,” said Cisco Provider Mobility SVP and GM Masum Mir.
“This collaboration is a game-changer for the enterprise market as it delivers a variety of valuable use cases, such as on-demand SD-WAN, fast scaling for 5G carriers and edge computing for IoT applications.”
The companies added that enterprises will be able to activate, manage and monitor Cisco infrastructure while connecting to NTT Data’s Transatel network remotely across 180 countries.
Industries such as financial services, retail, hospitality and manufacturing are expected to benefit, particularly where mobile branch services are needed at short notice.
“Together with Cisco, NTT DATA is setting a new standard for enterprise connectivity and customer experiences,” said NTT Data Edge Services Group Executive Vice President Shahid Ahmed.
“This partnership will deliver the future of connectivity today, allowing businesses to focus on their digital transformation journeys without worrying about the complexities of network management.”
Omdia practice lead IoT research Andrew Brown pointed to the advantages of an integrated approach.
“The need to lower setup and installation costs as well as provide vital services, such as backup in a managed and secure end-to-end fashion are pivotal to customers,” he said.
“This integration between Cisco and NTT DATA will simplify and streamline the process of getting customers up and running at scale and will provide an excellent complement to fixed line offerings.”
