Webex has unveiled a host of updates to its comms and collaboration products, including more agentic AI features.
The company announced at its annual WebexOne conference that it will be bringing agentic AI capabilities to its AI Assistant, the chatbot in its Webex collaboration suite.
The functionality, which is expected to be generally available from next year, will see AI agents that analyse meeting transcripts to create to-do lists for participants. They will also determine when follow-up meetings need to be booked in, look in participants’ calendars and propose a schedule based on their availability.
Other agentic AI features include the ability to suggest live polls for meetings without prompting from meeting participants, as well as automatically transcribing and summarising meetings.
Cisco Webex Calling AI upgrade
Webex Calling, Cisco’s cloud phone product, also enjoyed a makeover at WebexOne with users given more details on incoming calls.
A new Caller Intent feature suggests why a caller might be phoning up based on their previous interactions with the company, while Suggested Responses offers potential replies to questions based on the organisation’s knowledge base. Webex Calling can also analyse the content of calls to provide businesses with more insight into why customers are getting in contact.
Cisco is also adding an AI receptionist to Webex Calling. This AI agent can take over answering customers’ questions from human receptionists, directing client calls, and booking in appointments.
Third-party integrations
From the last quarter of this year, Cisco AI Assistant will also be able to integrate with third-party products, including Amazon Q index, Microsoft 365 Copilot, plus offerings from Salesforce and Jira.
The integration will allow AI Assistant to query information from inside Amazon’s Q, as well as access files in Microsoft’s SharePoint and OneDrive. Microsoft Copilot users will also be able to search AI meetings and conversation summaries held by Webex.
RoomOS 26, the operating system for Cisco comms kit, also benefits from fresh AI features. The notetaking AI agent will be available through the OS, while the Director agent will be able to adjust its view automatically based on the “meeting flow”, according to Cisco. New Audio Zones will also allow teams to instruct mics to focus on particular areas of the meeting.
